Studying the Basics

Churches and study groups looking for a guide to the basics of Christian environmental stewardship may want to consider Caring for Creation, published last year by Earthkeeping, an organization of Christian environmentalists in Alberta, Canada.

The guide is designed for study leaders in an eight to 12-week series, based on six reproducible bulletin inserts included in the book. For each session, the guide includes objectives, a list of supplies needed, Scripture references, suggestions for leader preparation, resource articles and a suggested lesson plan.

Among members of the editorial committee for Caring for Creation were Cindy (Golunski) Verbeek, an Au Sable alumna and a graduate of the King's University College in Edmonton, Alberta, and Dr. John R. Wood, a faculty member at the King's University College and Au Sable Institute.
