Dr. David Hoekman

Dr. Hoekman teaches the Insect Ecology course at the Great Lakes Campus during May term. He received a B.S. in Biology and Archaeology from Wheaton College and a Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Notre Dame. He studies arthropod food webs in aquatic and terrestrial systems. He has taught a range of field-based classes including Marine Ecology, Insect Ecology, Ornithology, General Ecology, and Tropical Field Research in Costa Rica.

He is an Associate Professor of Biology at Olivet Nazarene University. Dr. Hoekman, along with his wife and 3 sons, enjoys traveling, biking and spending time outside. Prior to coming to Illinois, they have lived and worked in Ontario, Oklahoma, Colorado, Montana, Wisconsin, Iceland, Indiana and Michigan.
