Rachel Egler awarded the 2026 Harold Snyder Fellowship

Congratulations to Rachel Egler, the 2026 recipient of the Harold Snyder Fellowship, an award dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of Au Sable’s Founder, Dr. Harold Snyder.  The Fellowship provides a US $3,000 award to a student who shares the values of Dr. Harold Snyder in the care of God’s creation, combined with exceptional academic ability and a passion for science teaching as part of their career goals.

Rachel is completing her second year at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she is studying Environmental Biology.  She will be spending five weeks at Au Sable’s beautiful Great Lakes Campus, during Summer Session II.

In her application, Rachel wrote, “Having the opportunity to study the world in such detail is an exciting one. Understanding the order and masterful detail of creation is an act of worship. There is no better way for me to come to the Father than to rest in His creation…I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to study at a place like Au Sable, where I get to join others in serving, protecting, and restoring the gift of creation.”

Rachel, congratulations on being named the 2026 Harold Snyder Fellow! We’re honored to have you with us this year!
