Hello! My name is Katibeth Brown! I am from a very small town in west Tennessee called Medina. The last five years, however, I have been living in Chattanooga, TN. There I got my degree in Environmental Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. One of my favorite parts about living in Chattanooga is the easy access to the outdoors. I love to hike, swim (preferably in a natural watering hole), go for a bike ride or have a picnic. Away from nature, I love to read, play guitar, and spend time with friends.

I applied to this internship because it seemed to combine my two greatest passions: ministry and the environment. I have always had a soft spot for nature and it wasn’t until around 2 years ago when I wanted to care about creation in a faithful way. My senior year of college, I interned with a non-profit that specializes in planting native food forests to feed our local community. That was when I became passionate about working in the environment to better serve others. With this internship, I will be able to adopt better skills to continue that passion.

After my time here in Michigan, I want to learn how to better serve my environment and my community. I also want to better my faith and my relationship with God.

After the holidays, I will be placed in Nashville, TN. There I will be working with A Rocha and Jenna and Noah. We will be doing urban planting and many other community focused jobs!

I look forward to seeing how this year is going to shape my mind as well as my heart!
