A Summer Visit to Remember

Last weekend, we welcomed alumni, supporters, and families to our first Summer Visit Day of 2025—and what a day it was!

Participants joined faculty and current students for a field excursion in search of the Kirtland’s warbler, a threatened species that nests in immature jack pine of northern Michigan. With the help of Dr. Steve Roels of the American Bird Conservancy, the group spotted several of the rare birds—a thrilling moment for experienced birders and beginners alike.

Back on campus, a few alumni tagged along with our Aquatic Biology class, sharing memories and offering encouragement to today’s students. It was a beautiful example of the intergenerational community that makes Au Sable so special.

Our next Summer Visit Day is just around the corner on August 2. We’d love to have you join us—come walk the trails, meet the people, and see what God is doing through this place.
