Last weekend, Au Sable Institute welcomed graduate fellows from across the country for our annual Graduate Fellows Winter Retreat, a long weekend of learning, worship, and community rooted in creation care and Christian vocation. Students joined us from Rutgers University, Cornell University, Marquette University, Northern Arizona University, Northwestern University, and Middle Tennessee State University, representing a wide range of disciplines and research interests.

The retreat featured sessions led by Gretchen Stokes (Baylor University) and Derek Rosenberger (Wheaton College). Together, fellows explored themes of creation care, faith integration, and vocation in Christian higher education, while also spending time snowshoeing and skiing, sharing meals, worshiping together, and presenting their own research. Through thoughtful conversation and winter adventure, the retreat offered space for deep reflection, friendship, and renewed vision for faithful scholarship in service of God’s world.
