This species is incredibly tolerant of wet conditions, thriving in habitats like wetlands, along stream banks, and in moist meadows. Its ability to thrive in areas with consistently moist or even soggy soil makes it an excellent choice for rain gardens or low-lying, waterlogged areas

The seeds are known for their unique ability to be dispersed by water. As they are lightweight and buoyant, they can travel across water sources, enabling the plant to colonize new areas, especially in wetland environments
