Fun facts:

The genus name Coreopsis comes from the Greek words Koris (meaning ‘bug’) and oasis (meaning ‘like’), directly referencing the bug-like shape of the seed. The plant’s leaves and stems carry a pleasant, mild anise or licorice-like scent. In n native plant conservation metrics it holds a high conservatism coefficient of 8 out of 10, meaning it is a strong indicator of high-quality, undisturbed natural habitats. They are sun worshippers, their daisy-like flowers close up or track sunlight and drop their heavy seed heads if they don’t get at least 6-8 hours of direct sun daily.
