Fun facts: Rudbeckia was given to honor Olaf and his son Olof Rudbeck, who were professors that studied plants at Uppsala University in Sweden. Fulgida means ‘flashing’ or ‘glowing’ and it comes from the latin word ‘fulgidus’ which means brightly colored. These flowers make a good bug restaurant; with their bright colors they attract all kinds of pollinators to drink their sweet nectar. They are also underground hikers which means that instead of dropping seeds, these plants spread underground using tiny stem runners called rhizomes to form neat, bush clumps and produce more plants.
